Silverfish in Sydney: what to know
They eat starch
Silverfish feed on starchy materials such as books and book bindings, glue, paper, photographs, carpet, clothes, cotton and wallpaper.
They like it dark and damp
Silverfish prefer dark, damp, rarely disturbed places such as cupboards, wardrobes and bookshelves, and they are normally active at night.
Easy to recognise
They are wingless, with a silvery-grey, fish-like body, long antennae and three thread-like tails at the rear.
