Cockroaches in Sydney: what to know

German cockroach

Amber-coloured, 12 to 15 mm long, with two dark stripes behind the head. Most infestations are found in kitchens.

American cockroach

The largest common pest cockroach, reddish-brown in colour. It is often found in and around sewers, drains and grease traps.

Australian cockroach

Has yellow markings behind the head. It usually lives outdoors, around gardens, shrubs and woodpiles.
